Arrival to Monteriggioni, a fortified hamlet surrounded by walls and 14 towers: the narrow streets of the village make a walking tour still plenty of “ancient” charm

Visiting the old Castello district in Colle Val d’Elsa, a medieval village with many imposing buildings which have been modified and enriched during the Renaissance period.
Here there is a strong tradition about crystal working: a visit to actual workshop is available

Driving through Florence to reach the summer residence of last Italian King - Vittorio Emanuele II - visit to the garden and the interior Proceeding on to the “countryside” villa belonged to the Lords of Florence, the Medici family (visit of the magnificent garden)

4th day: Sword and Soul

Driving to S. Galgano Abbey, a magnificent structure of the 13th century which lays among an amazing natural scenery. The missing roof and floor gives to the Abbey a very unique and charming atmosphere.
The small Romanesque church of Montesiepi is within walking distance, on a mild hill. Here is visible a sword stuck in the rock: is the one of San Galgano, a valorous knight who renounced to war for a religious life.
