The history of the Castello began round about the year 840. In 1070 the Berardenghi family built the first tower of the Castle. Many times destroyed and rebuilt during the battles between Siena and Florence.
A new tower was built at the beginning of the 13th century along with new fortifications and surrounding buildings. After centuries, these structures can still be seen today, restored and brought back to life.
