The oldest part is the Ermitorium S. Egidio de Querciola. In 1592 Claudio Socino built the chapel and part of the present Villa. During the centuries the Colle villa was ampliefied and enriched so as to adapt it for the nobelmen hunters who stayed there during the winter, and to welcome Peter Leopold of Hapsburg (1747-1792) who made out of it his secret refuge.
The Grand Duke of Tuscany and successevely Emperor of Austria, Peter Leopold was howerver an incurable ladies’man. He often stayed at Colle,where he was joined soon by the Contessina Isabella with her long black hair and large romantic eyes. |
